RIVERRUN

The wall of a hospice in the ancient city of Varanasi, India, scrawled layer upon layer with the prayers of those who have died here. At the time of death, their bodies are cremated and carried to the river below. In these waters, pilgrims have gathered for centuries in baptism and purification from sin. The most sacred river of India, the Ganga, runs with liberation for both the living and the dead.
